Weekend in New Orleans? Yes, please!

I don't know about you, but I'm already ready for a racecation. What is a racecation? Well, it's a fun weekend (or longer) away with your best friends...with a race in the plans. It's a race vacation!!

Lucky for me I have a racecation in the plans. Our Spring Break is in April, and that is the perfect time for a weekend away.  Ali and I will be joining my best friend Larisa and her husband Donald in New Orleans for the Crescent City Classic 10K on April 19th. We will be meeting up with some of our other blogger friends for a fun weekend in the Big Easy. Larisa and I will be running the 10K, and I'm hoping Ali's knee will be healed enough I let him run as well. I know he is anxious to get active in running again.

Have you ever done the CCC10K? I went last year and had a blast! Here is a photo of the crew last year...

I was relegated to walking the 10K last year due to both knees being injured, but I plan on running it this year!! This race is on an awesome flat course. Who wouldn't love running through New Orleans?!?

ALSO, we got a great medal at the finish.

I can't wait to see what this year's medal will look like. The medals were such a hit last year, that they have decided to provide them again this year!

I know you want to sign up and join us down there. You can even do it for free!! There are still a lot of Charity spots open for the race. You can participate for free by joining the "Run For It" Program: people can choose to register (for free) and fundraise for 1 of 10 local (and deserving) charities.  They will get an upgraded race t-shirt, a special "Charity" bib number, and perks on race day (private port-o-lets/gathering areas at the start & finish) in exchange for raising a minimum of $200 for their Charity by race day.  CCC10K has already raised over $6,000, but hope to reach $1 million!  The online fundraising platform (where you can see all 10 teams and team members) is here:  http://www.crowdrise.com/CrescentCityClassic

Look how easy it is to sign up :)

Getting ready for the biggest loser!

After the Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon back in November, I simply fell of my training. I'm not just talking about cutting back on running and exercising, I'm talking about NO running or exercising. I kept making excuses for why I stopped. My in-laws were visiting from England, I was busy with work, I just needed to rest a couple weeks, I had to finish getting the house ready for Christmas, my husband had knee surgery, my Mom was visiting from Texas, blah, blah, blah. I promised myself that I'd start back training when we got out for Christmas break, and then my Grandma passed away on Christmas Day. I spent the next week visiting my family in Texas and saying good-bye.

So, here we are into the New Year and I'm getting back into a groove. I've been walking with Ali a few days (he still isn't able to run) and I even got a little jogging and elliptical training in this week. I feel better already knowing I'm easing back in, and I felt that I needed to give myself some motivation to keep moving forward. Soooooooo...it looks like I will be doing the Biggest Loser Half Marathon!! Darby and Tyler are signed up for the 5K. The Stevenson's are making a come-back!

Are you looking for a way to motivate yourself to get moving? Why not join me? Check out this information from the Biggest Loser Run/Walk website:
